How to pitch a TV show to BBC
Holds open calls
BBC Writers’ Open Call takes scripts from writers aged 18 and over living in the UK or Ireland. Program ideas come only from production companies, through the PiCoS system. The BBC bought the Dutch format behind The Traitors.
“Unfortunately, due to the in-depth processes involved in making and delivering a TV programme we do not accept content ideas from members of the public or individuals not attached to a production company.”
“Our Open Call is our main open submission opportunity for all writers aged 18 and over and resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland.”
“Individuals and members of the public cannot use PiCoS, as the system is designed for use by production companies only.”
What it says it looks for
“We decide what programmes to commission based on the strength of the idea, its fit with our strategy and the production company’s ability to deliver the show to screen.”
